How to Connect a TELUS Wi-Fi Booster to Your Home Network

Use the TELUS Connect app to add a Boost, then position any additional unit between the hub and the weak-signal area. The app and indicator lights guide the process.

How to Connect a TELUS Wi-Fi Booster to Your Home Network
01

Check what TELUS equipment you have

Confirm that your internet service is active, the TELUS Connect app is installed, and you can sign in to My TELUS. TELUS lists a compatible smartphone, an internet connection and an electrical outlet for each Boost among the setup requirements.

02

Connect the first Boost

Open the Connect app and follow its on-screen instructions. TELUS says the first Wi-Fi Boost should be hardwired to the modem during installation; the app guides you through naming the network and setting the administrator password.

03

Wait for the status light

Let the setup finish before moving the unit. TELUS describes the light changing from solid purple through flashing blue and flashing purple to solid blue; its guide says this sequence can take several minutes.

04

Add another booster in a useful spot

Once the first unit is installed, place an additional Boost roughly between the modem and the area with poor coverage. Follow the app prompts and wait for the setup light sequence to complete before checking the new unit in the app.

05

If the booster will not connect

Keep the unit near the modem for initial installation and check that the modem and Boost have power. Reopen the Connect app, verify your account sign-in and consult TELUS troubleshooting for the exact light pattern before resetting equipment.

06

Can you use a third-party extender instead?

TELUS Boost is managed through TELUS equipment and its app. A separate Wi-Fi extender may work with a router, but compatibility and setup differ; check the router and extender instructions rather than assuming they join the TELUS mesh system.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Do I need the TELUS Connect app to set up a Wi-Fi Boost?

TELUS directs customers to use the Connect app, which walks through connecting the Boost and configuring its network details. Make sure you can sign in to My TELUS first.

Does the first TELUS booster connect to the modem with a cable?

TELUS’s installation guide says the first Boost must be hardwired to the modem after installation. Additional units can then be placed elsewhere following the app’s guidance.

Where should I place a second TELUS Wi-Fi booster?

Start between the modem and the weak-coverage area, where it can still receive a useful signal from the first unit. Avoid putting it inside the dead zone itself.

What does a solid blue light mean during setup?

TELUS describes solid blue as the final state in its installation light sequence. If the app does not show the Boost online, check TELUS’s light troubleshooting instructions for your exact model.
