Published reach is usually an idealised figure. It does not account for every house plan, wall material or neighbouring network, and it says little about the speed a phone or television will receive at the edge.

Guide
A range extender can carry WiFi farther, but the result is shaped by the signal available at its location. The layout and receiving device matter as much as the model name.

Published reach is usually an idealised figure. It does not account for every house plan, wall material or neighbouring network, and it says little about the speed a phone or television will receive at the edge.
The extender can only relay the connection it receives. If it is installed where the router is already barely detectable, the extended network may also be unreliable. Place it where the source signal remains stable.
Concrete, brick, foil-backed insulation and metal structures can attenuate WiFi more than an open doorway. A stairwell or central landing may offer a better path between floors than a corner room.
A laptop, smart TV and phone have different antennas and radio behaviour. Check the connection in the intended spot with the actual device, then move the extender in small increments and repeat.
For a long property or several blocked rooms, a mesh system or Ethernet-connected access point may be easier to tune than stacking repeaters. Avoid daisy-chaining units unless the manufacturer supports that arrangement.
Common questions
Not as a guaranteed measurement. It creates another coverage area, but walls, interference and its own link to the router determine how useful that area is.
It can add another hop in some supported setups, but each wireless link can reduce performance and reliability. A mesh system or wired access point is often easier to manage over a larger area.
Sometimes, if there is a usable source signal and a clear enough path. For a dependable connection through exterior walls or across a yard, consider a wired outdoor access point or a purpose-built point-to-point link.
Use its status light or management app if provided, then test a device near the extender. A weak backhaul indication or little improvement over the router alone suggests relocating it closer.
