24/7 Dashcam Systems for Driving and Parking Coverage

For around-the-clock coverage, prioritize controlled parking mode and low-voltage protection. Continuous recording is not always the best or safest configuration.

A 24/7 dashcam needs more than a large memory card. For a car camera 24/7 setup, power management determines whether the system can watch a parked vehicle without leaving it unable to start. Event-triggered, time-lapse and buffered parking modes reduce the load compared with ordinary continuous recording.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Can a dash cam record 24/7?

Some systems can record while driving and remain active in a parking mode after shutdown. Actual operating time depends on the recording mode, power source, temperature and protection settings.

Does a 24/7 dashcam drain the car battery?

It can if power is unmanaged. Use a compatible hardwire kit with low-voltage cutoff or a dedicated battery solution, following the camera and vehicle instructions.

Is parking mode the same as continuous recording?

No. Parking modes may record only after motion or impact, capture a time-lapse, or keep a short buffer. These approaches use power and storage differently.

How much footage can a car camera keep?

Retention depends on card capacity, camera count, resolution, bitrate and parking behavior. Loop recording replaces the oldest unprotected files when storage fills.
