360 Degree Car Camera Systems: Coverage Explained

“360 degree” can mean a panoramic cabin lens, several recorded channels or a stitched parking view. Confirm which surfaces are actually captured and recorded before buying.

A 360 degree car camera is not one standardized product. A single panoramic dash cam may look around the cabin, a multi-channel kit may record front, rear and sides, and an original-equipment surround-view system may stitch exterior cameras only to help with low-speed parking.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Does a 360 degree dash cam record every side of the car?

Not necessarily. Cabin-mounted lenses can be blocked by pillars, seats and the body, so review the maker's coverage diagram and sample files.

Is a 360 car camera the same as a surround-view parking camera?

No. A parking system creates a manoeuvring view from exterior cameras; a dash cam is designed to retain video. Some vehicles or aftermarket systems combine aspects of both.

Is 180 degree car camera coverage useful?

A 180-degree lens can capture broad cabin or side context, but stretching a wide scene across limited pixels can reduce distant detail.

How much storage does a 360 degree car camera need?

Storage depends on channel count, bitrate, resolution and recording hours. Use the manufacturer's calculator or bitrate figures for the exact mode.
