Rear View Mirror Dash Cam Mounts for a Clean Installation

Match the bracket to the mirror stem and the exact camera mount, then keep every factory sensor and adjustment path clear. A rigid, short arm is preferable to an elaborate loose joint.

A rear view mirror dash cam mount can place a compact recorder high and close to the center of the windshield without another adhesive pad on the glass. Unlike a mirror-replacement camera, this is a bracket: it grips the mirror stem or support and holds a separate dash cam.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

How do I mount a dash cam on a rear view mirror stem?

Use a correctly sized clamp and the adapter made for the camera, protect the stem surface, and tighten evenly. Then aim the lens using saved footage or app live view.

Can a mirror-stem mount block safety cameras?

Yes. Many vehicles house driver-assistance cameras and sensors around the mirror, so the bracket and cable must not cover or press against that equipment.

Will the dash cam move when I adjust the rear-view mirror?

It should not if the bracket grips a fixed stem section. Mounting to a moving mirror body can shift the camera whenever the mirror is adjusted.

Is a suction cup better than a rear-view mirror mount?

A suction cup is easier to move between vehicles, while a stem mount can be more compact. Stability depends on the quality, fit, and length of either mounting system.
