Guide
Identify whether you have eir Smart WiFi equipment or a third-party extender. Follow its manual, then place it where it still receives a stable router signal.

Read the model label on the modem and booster. eir documents separate fibre boxes and Smart WiFi devices, while third-party extenders use their own setup instructions.
For an eir Smart WiFi unit, use the eir guide for your modem. For a third-party extender, check whether it supports WPS, an app or browser setup; menus vary by model.
Power the extender near the modem for initial pairing. If using WPS, follow the two devices’ instructions in sequence. Otherwise use the extender’s app or web interface and the router’s Wi-Fi credentials.
After setup, relocate the extender to a point that still receives a reliable signal from the eir router. Use the indicator or app if provided, then check the connection in the room you wanted to improve.
Recheck the Wi-Fi password, band compatibility and distance from the router. If it still will not pair, consult its model manual or eir support before resetting the modem, since a reset removes customised settings.
Common questions
A compatible third-party extender can connect using a method supported by both devices, such as WPS or the extender’s setup app. eir says it does not support configuring third-party routers.
eir’s Smart WiFi guidance describes wireless WPS pairing and says some newer eir fibre boxes connect automatically. Check the instructions for your exact modem and unit.
Place it between the router and the area with poor coverage, where it can still receive a usable router signal. Avoid hiding it behind furniture or placing it directly in the dead zone.
Confirm WPS is enabled and supported by both devices, then try the extender maker’s app or web setup. Do not factory-reset the eir modem unless prepared to restore custom settings.
