Dashcam Mounts: Choose the Right Fit

Match the mount to the exact camera before choosing suction or adhesive fixing. Similar-looking ball joints, GPS bases and power contacts are often not interchangeable.

A dashcam mount must hold the lens steady, fit the exact camera and keep the unit outside the driver's useful field of view. Search by full model number rather than appearance: a car camera mount may carry GPS contacts, a powered connector or a proprietary release that a generic bracket cannot reproduce.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Is an adhesive or suction dash cam mount better?

Adhesive mounts are usually compact and stable; suction mounts are easier to move. The better choice is the manufacturer-approved option that suits your windscreen and placement needs.

Are dash cam mounts universal?

No. Connector shape, ball diameter, power contacts and GPS modules vary, even between models from one brand.

Why does my dashcam suction mount keep falling?

Dirty glass, a damaged cup and temperature changes are common causes. Clean and dry the surface, inspect the cup and replace it if it has hardened or warped.

Can I stick a dash cam mount to the dotted windscreen area?

Only if the mount maker permits it and the surface provides full contact. The camera must still have a clear view and must not obstruct yours.

Can I make a DIY dash cam mount?

A homemade bracket can introduce vibration or detach in a collision. A verified model-compatible mount is the safer choice.
