How to Choose and Fit a Dashcam Adhesive Pad

Use the camera maker's replacement pad when possible. The correct shape, thickness and adhesive matter, and clean glass is essential for a stable mount.

A dashcam adhesive pad should hold the mount steady through vibration and temperature changes without obstructing the driver's view. Match the pad to the exact mounting plate: a substitute that is too thick, too small or poorly shaped can let the camera move and spoil the framing.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Can I reuse a dashcam adhesive pad?

Usually not. Once removed, a pressure-sensitive pad may be contaminated or stretched, so a correctly sized fresh replacement is the safer choice.

How do I prepare a windshield for dashcam adhesive?

Follow the mount and adhesive instructions. The glass should generally be clean, dry and free of oils, and the surface temperature should be within the stated application range.

Why does my dashcam adhesive keep falling off?

Common causes include residue, cold application, an uneven surface, the wrong tape thickness or loading the mount before the bond develops. A failing or distorted bracket can also be responsible.

Can a dashcam adhesive pad damage window tint?

It can if attached to aftermarket film or removed aggressively. Check the vehicle and tint installer guidance, and mount to approved glass rather than film when instructed.
