Dashcam GPS Trackers and Location-Enabled Cameras

Built-in GPS can attach location and journey data to footage. Live tracking is a separate feature and normally requires a mobile-data connection and cloud service.

A dashcam GPS tracker can record where a clip was captured and, depending on the product, associate route or speed data with the video. That is useful context, but ordinary GPS does not send the vehicle’s position to your phone. Remote location access needs a dashcam and tracker combination with mobile data, a cloud account and power while parked.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Is a dashcam with GPS tracker the same as a live tracker?

Usually not. GPS determines location, while live remote tracking also needs a way to transmit that data, commonly through a mobile network.

Does dash cam GPS work without mobile data?

Location logging can work without mobile data when the camera has its own GPS receiver. You may need the maker’s app or desktop software to view the recorded route.

Can GPS data be removed from a dash cam video?

Some cameras let you hide the on-video overlay or export without it, while retaining separate route data. Check the controls for the exact model before sharing footage.

Will a dashcam and GPS tracker locate a stolen car?

Only a system with powered, active remote connectivity could report a current position. A conventional GPS-logging dash cam merely stores journey data locally.
