Dashcam Electrostatic Stickers and Films Explained

Electrostatic film creates a removable layer between the windscreen and an adhesive camera mount. It can simplify repositioning, but it must be fitted to clean, dry glass.

A dashcam electrostatic sticker is a clear film placed on the inside of the windscreen before the adhesive mount is applied. The film clings without glue, helping you remove the mount later without scraping adhesive from the glass.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

What does a dashcam electrostatic sticker do?

It provides a removable surface for the adhesive mount, so the adhesive does not sit directly on the windscreen.

Does electrostatic film hold the dash cam by itself?

The film clings to the glass, while the camera’s adhesive pad sticks to the film. Follow the camera maker’s placement and preparation instructions.

Can an electrostatic dash-cam sticker be reused?

Some films can be repositioned if kept clean and undamaged, but grip may decline with dust, creases or repeated handling.

Is a recording notice sticker required in an Irish car?

The answer depends on how and why footage is recorded. Ireland’s Data Protection Commission advises drivers to consider obligations where video or audio captures identifiable people.
