Electrostatic Stickers for Dash Cams: How to Fit One

An electrostatic film sits between the windscreen and an adhesive dash-cam mount, making later removal cleaner. It is not the mount itself and will not suit every fixing system.

An electrostatic sticker for a dash cam is a clear, removable layer placed on the inside of the windscreen. The camera's adhesive pad sticks to this layer, so you can peel away the assembly later without scraping adhesive directly from the glass.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

What does an electrostatic sticker do for a dash cam?

It creates a removable surface between the windscreen and the adhesive mount. This can make repositioning or removal cleaner while keeping glue off the glass.

Which side of electrostatic film goes on the windscreen?

Follow the markings supplied with the film because designs vary. In general, remove the protective layer and smooth the cling side against clean interior glass before applying the mount.

Can an electrostatic sticker be reused?

Some films can be lifted and reapplied if they remain clean and undamaged, but dust and creases reduce their hold. Replace a film that no longer lies flat.

Will electrostatic film hold any dash cam?

No. It is designed to support an adhesive mounting pad, not to compensate for an oversized or unsuitable mount. Use only a film large enough for the pad and follow the camera maker's guidance.

Is dash-cam film legal on a UK windscreen?

The camera and film must not materially obstruct the driver's view. Keep the whole installation outside critical viewing areas and check current UK windscreen-obstruction rules.
