Dashcam Hardwire Kits for Australian Cars

A hardwire kit gives a dash cam a tidy, constant power connection and can enable parking mode. Match it to the camera and vehicle before installation.

A dashcam hardwire kit connects the camera to the vehicle's fuse box or an approved alternative power point. It removes the loose cable from the accessory socket and may supply power while the ignition is off, which is commonly required for parking recording. A car camera hardwire kit is not universal: connector shape, operating voltage, low-voltage cut-off and camera compatibility all matter.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Does hardwiring a dashcam void the car warranty?

Not automatically, but damage caused by incorrect installation may not be covered. Check the vehicle warranty terms and use a qualified installer if the manufacturer requires one.

Is it easy to hardwire a dashcam?

It can be straightforward for an experienced installer with the correct wiring diagram. Airbag routing, switched and constant circuits, fuse sizes and low-voltage protection make it unsuitable for guesswork.

Which fuse should I use to hardwire a dashcam?

Use only a circuit permitted by the vehicle and kit instructions, selected with a circuit tester. Never tap a safety-critical circuit such as an airbag, ABS or engine-control system.

Why is my hardwired dashcam not turning off?

The kit may be connected to a constant circuit or the camera may be entering parking mode. Review the cut-off setting and wiring against the manuals before changing any connection.

Can an OBD hardwire kit power parking mode?

Some approved OBD power leads can, but compatibility and shut-off behaviour vary. Use only a lead specified for the camera and vehicle, and do not assume every diagnostic-port adaptor is suitable.
