Magnetic Meat Thermometers for Ovens, Grills and Smokers

A magnetic back keeps a display visible and cables organised, but only on a cool ferromagnetic surface. The magnet does not make the thermometer or its housing heatproof.

A magnetic meat thermometer places its display or charging base on a steel appliance, smoker or storage surface. It is useful when you want the screen at eye level or need to stop a probe cable trailing across the worktop. Not every stainless-steel cooker attracts a magnet, so test the intended spot before relying on it.

Common questions

Questions before you buy

Can a magnetic meat thermometer stay on the oven door?

Only if the surface remains within the display's stated operating range and the magnet holds securely. Avoid hot panels, vents and locations disturbed when the door opens.

Do magnets stick to every stainless-steel barbecue?

No. Stainless-steel alloys vary, and some surfaces are weakly magnetic or non-magnetic. Test the exact location before cooking.

Will a magnetic thermometer scratch a cooker?

Grit trapped beneath a magnet can mark a finish, and the housing material also matters. Clean both surfaces and follow the appliance maker's care advice.

Does a magnetic back mean the display is heatproof?

No. Keep the display within its operating range and outside the oven unless its instructions explicitly state otherwise.
